Middleboro celebrates Shoe Shop Place opening

​MIDDLEBORO --- In its heyday, the three-story wood-framed shoe factory on Peirce Street stood proudly next to the neighborhood’s single-family homes, employing a hundred workers. Now, it's been preserved as affordable housing development called Shoe Shop Place.

BOSTON --- This past summer, the Commonwealth took a big step in resolving discrepancies between the Community Preservation Act (CPA) and the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust (MAHT) statutes when Gov. Charlie Baker signed into law An Act Modernizing Municipal Finance and Government (H. 4565). Included in the bill were changes to the MAHT statute, MGL Chapter 44, Section 55c.
