A forward-looking approach will maximize the impact of the MBTA Communities Law.

BOSTON --- This research brief provides a snapshot of how far along the 177 MBTA Communities are on their path to compliance with Section 3A, aimed at providing a sense of how much momentum has already been built around these much-needed zoning changes. The brief will also introduce an analytical approach to evaluating potential development opportunities in approved 3A districts, and make the case for a coordinated, forward-looking approach to MBTA Communities rather than a reactive, defensive posture in response to a relatively small group of detractors.

GREATER BOSTON --- Analysis shows that less than 20 percent of renter households in Massachusetts can afford rent in new market-rate apartments. This analysis leverages data from a new report published by the Boston Globe Spotlight Team highlighting inflated construction costs in our region and their impact on rents in new construction.

BOSTON --- To demonstrate how existing affordable housing can become more sustainable and in line with statewide climate goals, MHP is proud to announce the second set of awards and third round of funding from the state’s Climate Ready Housing program.

Boston --- MHP staff members Vanessa Okonkwo and Annaly Monteiro-Serena have been accepted into the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce 2024 Boston Future Leaders Program. Okonkwo is counsel on MHP’s legal team and Monteiro-Serena is senior programs coordinator on the homeownership team.
