BROCKTON --- The redevelopment of the city's mills into affordable housing has been a significant factor in the economic revival of the city, according to a report by the Brookings Institute.

EASTON --- With the planned extension of the Stoughton commuter rail line in mind, the town plans to go forward with a 40R smart growth proposal that will add 60 condominiums, 220 apartments and retail space while qualifying for over $1 million in grants from the state.

YARMOUTH --- The town hopes to use community preservation funds to purchase single-family homes and sell them at affordable rates.

MARLBOROUGH --- The lack of affordable housing reaches across the spectrum, as owners of mobile homes who rent space in parks find it difficult to keep up with their continually increasing rents and can't find buyers to purchase their homes.

BOXBOROUGH --- A strong demand for affordable housing in the 495 corridor has prompted a developer who had planned to build an office park to submit a proposal for a 40B effort that would include starter homes and rental units.

NORWELL --- The town and developer have reached a stalemate in a 39-unit 40B effort. Three years after the low-income residents were evicted from their cabins with promises that two would receive preference for the new units, the lot remains vacant.
