Boston: Television program to feature Hendry Street properties

BOSTON --- The television program "This Old House" will feature the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the renovation of two triple-deckers on Hendry Street. The properties were purchased through the City of Boston's Foreclosure Intervention Team (FIT) program and were sold to Roxbury-based Bilt-Rite Construction who completely renovated the units to include new high-efficiency heating, plumbing, electrical systems, bathroom, and kitchens.

Framingham: State loan for renovation of public housing

FRAMINGHAM --- The town Housing Authority recently received a $28.6 million loan from the state for the renovation and modernization of a 110-unit public housing development. The scope of the work for the 67 two-bedroom apartments and 43 three-bedroom apartments includes expanding the size of the units to modernize and create enlarged kitchen and dining areas, as well as replacing the electrical, plumbing and heating systems.

Weymouth: Construction to begin on 20-unit affordable complex

WEYMOUTH --- South Suburban Affordable Housing developers recently received permission to build a 20-unit affordable rental complex from the town's conservation commission. All of the units in the 40B complex will be affordable to people earning under the state's median income and 70 percent of the units will be reserved for Weymouth residents. Funding sources for the project include over $2 million from the state and $350,000 in federal tax credits.

Scituate: ZBA approves 40B development

SCITUATE --- Following eight years of debate, the ZBA recently voted to allow the Stockbridge Woods 40B development to move forward. The plan includes the construction of 48 rental units and 20 single-family homebuyer units. Of the units, 16 rental and two homebuyer will be designated as affordable at 80 percent of the area median income (AMI) which is $66,150 for a family of four.

Lawrence: $4M bond financing secured for affordable complex

LAWRENCE --- Developer Jupiter IV LLC recently secured $4 million in bond financing from the state to continue the conversion of a vacant site into affordable housing. The financing will be used to acquire and renovate the vacant American Woolen Mills Townhouses complex and create 35 affordable housing units.

Leominster: Non-profit proposes 40 units in rehabbed building

LEOMINSTER --- Twin Cities Community Development Corporation recently presented a proposal to the Zoning Board of Appeals to turn a former manufacturing building into affordable housing. The proposed 40B project is set to consist of 40 apartments of all of which would be affordable.
