Yarmouth: Enforcing law prohibiting long stays at motels

YARMOUTH --- Tenants at at least three Yarmouth motels are being issued eviction notices by owners as the town is stepping up pressure to enforce a town bylaw prohibiting motels from serving long-stay clients. The bylaw limits motel stays to 30 consecutive days or 90 days during a six-month period.

Chelsea: Developer proposes 230 units on Rte. 1 site

CHELSEA --- Transdel Corporation developers recently announced plans to build a 230-unit apartment building on a site next to Route 1. The Crescent Cove development would be constructed within the city's Everett Avenue Urban Renewal District and would include studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. Developers also plan to build 242 units on an adjacent 4-acre site located at Heard and Spruce Streets. If all permits are approved by the city and financing comes through, Transdel Corp. hopes to break ground on the first phase of the project by the fall of 2012.

EASTHAMPTON --- A nonprofit housing organization claims its request for a special permit to build 37 affordable rental units has been "contructively granted" after the the Easthampton Planning Board took more than the required 90 days to issue its denial following the conclusion of public hearings.
