BOSTON—MHP has released its 2023 Annual Report. The report features recent developments at MHP to assist community leaders and volunteers in support of housing production and zoning reform, provide long-term financing for affordable and mixed-income rental developments, help low- and moderate-income households purchase their first home, and share data and tools to advance the Commonwealth’s housing needs.
Here are some report highlights:
- Playing an integral role in helping communities and housing authorities use vacant land on Cape Cod for affordable housing by providing staff support, third-party consultancy, and permanent financing.
- Providing staff assistance and distributing $1.5 million in funds from various sources to help communities comply with the state’s new MBTA Communities zoning law to have at least one zoning district where multifamily zoning is permitted by right.
- Featuring the story of a Worcester family that lost their apartment through a no-fault eviction but found an affordable rental through assistance from a community development corporation that provides hundreds of affordable rental, homeownership and economic opportunities for its residents, often with financial support from MHP’s multifamily loan and first-time homebuyer mortgage programs.
- Celebrating the completion of the HAF program, co-administered by MHP, which helped about 6,000 homeowners and stopped more than 300 foreclosure sales.
- Enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging inside MHP by launching MHP Cares, a program which allows staff to use work hours to be of service to the communities of Massachusetts.
