BOSTON --- Recognizing that safe, energy efficient affordable housing is a key to better health, opportunity and a cleaner environment, MHP is pleased to announce its newly revised Green Building Certification Financing (GBC) term sheet.
This update to MHP's Green and Healthy Housing programs now offers a new tier of 40-basis point rate discounts for zero energy certifications and an elevation of incentives offered for green and healthy certifications, including Enterprise Green Communities 2020.
Since its launch in 2019, MHP’s Green and Healthy Housing program has garnered a robust pipeline of developments that have committed to advance climate mitigation and healthy resident populations through energy efficiency and resiliency standards.
In addition to the range of interest rate reductions, MHP offers up to a $15,000 reimbursement for commissioning services and free energy performance benchmarking services for the first two years following loan closing.
To earn MHP incentives, borrowers must demonstrate that the property has a green building certification prior to closing from a program recognized by MHP. These programs include LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, EPA Energy Star and Passive House. See the term sheet for more details and links to specific information about each certification program.
Green certification workshops
MHP periodically supports trainings to help borrowers understand what's entailed in qualifying for MHP green incentives.
On Feb. 12, 2021, MHP co-sponsored a workshop on the new Enterprise Green Communities 2020 Criteria to explain recent program updates and to help borrowers understand how to incorporate green, sustainable and healthy features in their housing developments. Watch the Enterprise Green 2020 Criteria workshop video or read more on the Enterprise Criteria web site.
In 2020, MHP co-sponsored a workshop on Passive House, another program borrowers can pursue to receive MHP green incentives. Click here to watch the Passive House workshop video and download resources.
