Posted on May 10, 2016
DEVENS --- Registration is open and a finalized agenda is now available for the 10th annual Housing Institute, Tuesday & Wednesday, June 14 & 15, 2016 at the Devens Common Center.
The Housing Institute is a two-day intensive workshop that actively engages participants in discussion and problem solving around issues related to the development of affordable housing.
This event is geared toward officials, volunteers and employees in suburban and rural communities.
Learning tracks and agenda
In response to positive feedback following last year's event, we are once again offering sessions that fit into two tracks that can be followed through the two-day program.
Track 1, Setting the Stage, is for registrants that want to gain a better understanding of how to assess their housing needs and what steps to take at the beginning of the housing development process.
Track 2, Moving to Implementation, is for registrants that are ready to put their community's housing plan into action or have some previous experience in creating affordable housing.
This year's event will also feature a special guest speaker on Day 2 to discuss the state of Massachusetts' housing policy in a national context.
Topics covered at this year's event will include:
- Assessing housing needs;
- Site selection and due diligence;
- Fair housing;
- Housing finance 101 and 201;
- Building community support for affordable housing;
- Chapter 40B and the role of the municipality;
- CPA and affordable housing;
- Water and sewer regulations.
The finalized agenda is availale here.
