BOSTON, MARCH 23, 2015 --- More than 40 homebuyer counselors from around the state participated in a webinar last week to learn more about the ONE Mortgage Program for low- and moderate-income first-time buyers.
Organized by the Citizen's Housing and Planning Association, MHP's Thais DeMarco, program manager for ONE Mortgage, answered a wide range of questions regarding the program.
"Besides being able to answer questions, I think the greatest benefit of these sessions is to get to know the homebuyer counselors and how we can help them," said DeMarco. "The better connection we have with the counselors, the better it's ultimately going to be for the first-time homebuyers who will use the program to buy their first home."
DeMarco credited CHAPA's Emmanuel Owusu-Boakye for the webinar's success. Owusu-Boakye recruited participants, coordinated registration and set up the online meeting space.
ONE Mortgage is a new, simplified version of SoftSecond. These programs have combined to help 18,400 families purchase their first home. The shift from SoftSecond's two-loan structure to ONE loan was made to make it simpler for borrowers and easier for financial institutions to administer.
