BOSTON, APRIL 26, 2012 --- MHP Deputy Director Judy Jacobson has written an article in the latest edition of Shelter Force on the history and success of MHP's SoftSecond Loan Program.
Entitled "A Blueprint for Responsible Homeownership," Jacobson describes how the program was created by a coalition of lenders, community groups and government to address the issue of access to mortgage financing to lower-income and minority neighborhoods.
Out of this process, SoftSecond was created and it is now the state's most successful affordable mortgage program, with delinquency rates comparable to prime loans in Massachusetts and foreclosure rates consistetntly lower.
