BOSTON, March 17, 2008 --- The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) kicked off a series of briefings with housing authorities last week, providing details and answering question about the state’s support of housing authority rehabilitation and development.
MHP’s Rita Farrell spoke at the Friday, March 14 regional housing authority executive director's meeting in Auburn about the state’s new planning grant program designed to help housing authorities modernize their existing state public housing units or to add new units.
MHP and the state Department of Housing and Community Development has set aside funds to provide up to $50,000 to pay for consultants who will work with housing authorities to determine whether their project ideas could benefit from mixed financing, including tax exempt debt and tax credits.
MHP will also speak speaking at the following housing authority regional executive director meetings:
- Lynnfield – Thursday, March 20
- Falmouth – Thursday, April 10
- Easthampton – Wednesday, April 16
- Raynham – Friday, April 18
In addition, MHP will also speak at the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials annual meeting on May 19-20 at the Sea Crest Conference Center in Falmouth.
