AMHERST --- At the Nov. 5 town meeting, a measure that would require developers seeking special permits of nine or more units to make some units affordable fell short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass the measure. The tally was 111-79 in favor, 16 votes short.

Waltham: Opts to pay into trust rather than create affordability

WALTHAM --- A city committee has voted to pay money into the city's affordable housing trust fund rather than make two of the 24 condos planned for the Banks School affordable. The Ordinance and Rules Committee also voted to pay back $1.4 million which was borrowed from the trust to help pay for the first stage of renovations at the school.
