NEEDHAM --- Town Meeting on Monday, May 2 voted to adopt a special overlay district for a commercial area just east of Rt. 128 on the Newton-Needham line.
Needham initially planned to take up the measure at its 2015 fall Town Meeting but withdrew the measure and put it on the spring Town Meeting Warrant.
The Town of Needham web site has details about the special mixed-use overlay district, including a map, a fiscal impact report and a memo from the consultant summarizing the key features of the proposed district and an overview of fiscal implications.
The Massachusetts Housing Partnership's community assistance team provided support and financial assistance to help the town analyze the fiscal impacts of new housing in the overlay district.
