BOSTON, May 17, 2016 --- In its ongoing effort to help communities increase their supply of affordable housing, the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) is pleased to announce that Shelly Goehring has joined its community assistance team to provide support to communities that have or want to create municipal affordable housing trusts.
This new position was created by a three-year grant to MHP from the Kuehn Charitable Foundation. Created by housing developer Bob Kuehn, the foundation supports affordable housing and historic and open space preservation. Kuehn died in 2006 and left the majority of his estate to his foundation.
Goehring comes to MHP from the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance, where she was a program manager who supported over 60 communities in their efforts to create more affordable housing. Prior to that, she was the founder and executive director of Four Corners Main Street, a Boston organization that supports small business development and commercial district revitalization.
The addition of Goehring increases MHP’s ability to provide assistance to communities that have or want to create affordable housing trusts, and how to use Community Preservation Act funds (CPA) to support affordable housing and municipal trusts. In the past two years, MHP has updated or created three guidebooks related to these topics:
· Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Guidebook
· Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Operations Manual
· Create, Preserve Support: Using CPA for housing
